/IRBIS, December 2, 02/ - In November of 2002 volume of transactions in foreign currency at Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) reached the equivalent of USD385,503.0 th. (KZT59,513.9 m) and increased relative to October of 2002 by USD18,563.7 th. (KZT2,857.0 m) or by 5.1% (5.0%). Relative to November of last year the volume increased by USD181,446.1 th. (KZT29,196.0m) or by 88.9% (96.3%). Total of 1,953 deals (1,746) were made within a month (hereafter comparable figures of previous month are given in parentheses), including: in U.S. dollars on TOD terms - 1,888 (1,691), on TOM terms - 62 (50); in euro - 1 (0), in Russian ruble - 2 (4). Share of US dollar in the total turnover of the exchange's currency market totaled in November 99.95% (99.94%). Volume of transactions in U.S. dollars reached $385,295 th. ($366,725.0) for KZT59,481.8 m (56,623.9 m). For comparison, total volume of USD deals in November of 2001 at KASE amounted to $203,550.0 th. for the amount of KZT30,242.6 m. Tenge devaluation rate against dollar, calculated at weighted average rate of the main session of the Exchange, is estimated in November of 2002 (October 31, 02 = KZT154.47 - November 30, 02 = KZT154.88) by a trend of 3.23% APR. Last month average devaluation rate of tenge was equal to negative 1.90% APR (tenge was strengthening relative to dollar). Weighted average rate of the U.S. dollar against the tenge, calculated by the deals of the main session in November - KZT154.38 per unit. For October of 2002 - KZT154.41 per dollar. Based on the data of the National Bank, volume of over-the-counter deals in U.S. dollars between the operators-residents of Kazakhstan since November 1 of 2002 till November 22, 2002 (later data is absent) reached $277,174.0 th. Volume of all interbank over-the-counter market during this period: purchases - $292,071.0 th., sales - $295,168.0 th. On Russian rouble volume of deals in November of 2002 reached RUR1.8m (6.8m) for a total of KZT8.7 m (33.1 m). Tenge fluctuation rate against rouble, estimated using weighted average rate of KASE, equaled in November of 2002 (October 31, 02 = KZT4.8610 - November 30, 02 = KZT4.8410) by the trend of negative 5.01% APR. Last month this figure was negative 6.98% APR. Volume of over-the-counter transactions on Russian rouble between operators-residents of Kazakhstan according to the National Bank data since November 1 till November 22 of 2002 (later data is absent) was RUR47,221.0 th. Volume of deals of entire over-the counter interbank market (taking into account non-residents) in this period: purchase - RUR95,446.0 th., sale - RUR50,607.0 th.
