National Bank of Kazakhstan has characterized the Republic's GS market in October of 2002

/IRBIS, November 7, 02/ - National Bank of Kazakhstan, in its press-release,
which was devoted to the current market situation, has briefly characterized
Government securities market in Octobber of 2002.
In particular it is informed that issue volume of securities of the Ministry of
finance of Kazakhstan in this month decreased in comparison with
September of 2002 by 35.3% to KZT4.4 bn, at this volume of securities in
circulation increased by 1.8% to KZT105.8 bn due to longer securities issue.
During October mid-term 3-year and 5-year МЕОКАМ were issued.
In October there was decrease of yield on 3-year MEOKAM (from 8.35% to
8.15% APR) and on 5-year МЕОКАМ (from 8.68% to 8.47% APR).
Volume of National Bank's notes issue in October increased in comparieon
with September by 29.1% to KZT25.2 bn, whereas there was increase on
them from 5.75% APR to 5.92% APR. Volume of notes in circulation
increased to KZT45.9 bn (by 10.9%).
In comparison with September volume of deals on direct repo transactions
fell in October by 19.2% and equaled to KZT69.7 bn. Volumes on reverse
repo transactions rose from KZT300 m in August (in September these
transactions were not made) to KZT3.8 bn in October.
