As of July 1, 2002 total state debt of Kazakhstan, issued as GS, equaled KZT361.8bn or $2,363.2m along with servicing

/IRBIS, July 8, 02/ - As of July 01,2002 total state debt of Kazakhstan, issued as government securities (GS), including municipal bonds, along with the servicing (amount of coupon payments) equaled in current prices KZT361.8bn, or $2,363.2m at KZT153.10 per dollar rate. The specialists of IRBIS came to this conclusion after making the analysis on the database of the agency. When making this analysis the payments on MEIKAM were calculated along with the consumer price index, which was fixed for the period from April to June of the current year. Since June 1 through 30, 2002 total debt increased by KZT11,197.3m (3.19%), or $70,141.7 th. (3.06%, taking into account change in the rate of the National Bank). Corresponding figures of May of 2002 were +KZT9,261.0m (2.71%) or +$59,107.7 th. (+2.65%). Increase of the debt in tenge equivalent in June 2002, as well as in May, was caused mainly by the work of the National Bank of Kazakhstan at notes market with positive balance of net-borrowing, and by increase of internal debt of the Ministry of finance due to issue of mid-term coupon bonds.
