Kazakhstan oil export rose by 16% in the first quarter of 2002

/REUTERS, Almaty, May 15, 02/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to
the Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan, that oil and gas condensate exports
grew by 16.0% in the first quarter of 2002 compared to 2000, at 9.103m tons,
including 2.026m tons to CIS countries.
Total value of the oil and gas condensate export decreased by 19 % during
three months, at $868.3m.
For the whole year 2001 Kazakhstan extracted 39.7m tons of oil and gas
condensate.
As the Statistics agency informs, total Kazakhstan exports decreased by 6%
during three months of 2002 against previous period and reached
$1,986.4m. Trade balance surplus equaled $566.6m.
