As of January 1, 2002 total state debt of Kazakhstan, issued as GS, equaled KZT325.5bn or $2,167.2m along with servicing

/IRBIS, Jan 7, 02/ - At midnight on December 31, 2001 total state debt of Kazakhstan, issued as government securities (GS), including municipal bonds, along with the servicing equaled KZT325.5bn, or $2,167.2m at KZT150.20 per dollar rate. The specialists of IRBIS came to this conclusion after making the analysis on the database of the agency. From December 1 through 31, 2001 total debt increased by KZT5,046.6m (1.57%), or $9,899.9 th. (0.46%, taking into account weekly change in the rate of the National Bank). The increase was attributable mainly to: - 42% to increase in debt of National Bank on short-term notes; - about 25% to issue of new municipal bonds of Astana; - about 33% to firming of dollar against tenge in December.
