Volume of transit by rail freightage of Kazakhstan temir zholy RSE through crossing Druzhba (Kazakhstan) - Alashankou (CPR) reached 5m tons in 2001

/IRBIS, Jan 4, 02/ - During the year 2001 annual volume of transit by rail freightage through international railroad crossing Druzhba (Kazakhstan) - Alashankou (CPR) reached record value of 5m tons. It is said in a oppress release of the Department on public relations of Kazakhstan temir zholy RSE (Astana) distributed today. It is said there that in 2000 volume of transit through Druzhba station didn't exceed 4.2m tons, in 1999 - 3.6m tons. Transportation of export cargo through Druzhba station toward CPR is estimated by Kazakhstan temir zholy RSE in more than 4.350m tons. In company's opinion, the growth took place due to development of own transportation cargo capacities of Kazakhstan cargo owners and an increase of transportation volume of ferrous (108% relative to last year) and non- ferrous (104%) metals, containers (213%), chemicals (112%), scrap metal (125%), fertilizers (152%), forest (136%) and other (263%) cargo. From Chinese People's Republic to Kazakhstan 650 th. tons of different cargo are transmitted. Here growth took place due to increase of transportation volumes of equipment (237%), construction (262%) and food (230%) cargo, tea (173%), coke (123%), consumer goods (123%) and containers (144%). According to IRBIS specialists, given data are interesting from the point of view of export-import flows estimations in this direction.
