Kazakhtelecom OJSC raised capacity of Ust-Kamenogorsk ATS by 1,244 numbers, and digitalization - by 4.5%

/IRBIS, Nov 6, 01/ - Kazakhtelecom (Astana), whose shares and bonds were admitted to official list of securities of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) under category "A", put into service 3 new digital ATS with total capacity of 3,944 numbers. In early 2001 there were 15 ATS for up to 70.6 th. numbers, including 7 digital (40.9 th. numbers) and 8 analog ATS (29.7 th. numbers). Proportion of digital equipment was 57.9%. As a result of putting into service 3 digital ATS with 3,944 numbers 3 analog ATS with 2,700 numbers will be eliminated. It will result in an increase of 1,244 numbers for Ust-Kamenogorsk ATS up to 71,856 numbers, and proportion of digital equipment will reach 62.4%, up 4.5%. In addition, a new city transportation telecommunication network was build and put into service in 2001 which is based on fiber optic and SDH technology. Fiber optic line connects 9 ATS in 15.21 km length and a international telephone station. Of this number, 6 ATS have STM-4 transmission equipment. It allowed to increase the quality of transmission, as well as transmit all kind of media, video and others. Kazakhtelecom also informs that in 2001 new digital ATS was put into service in Molodejnyi and Zavidnoe community of Ulan district for 768 numbers. Besides, an equipment was set up in 42 rural areas allowing the residents to get automated long distance and international communication services instead of ordered and semiautomatic ones. In 2000 under the program of National network of satellite communication 5 satellite stations have been set up using the DAMA technology in Beloe community of Katon-Karagai district, Goluboi Zaliv resort house of Zyryanovsk district, Asu-Bulak comm. of Ulan district and Shilikty comm. of Zaisan district. The base station is built in Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 2001 three satellite stations were set up in Kurchum district communities: Toskaiyn, Akjailau and Maraldy. It allowed the residents to get a quality local and long distance automated communication. Kazakhtelecom informs that for the convenience of the resident and the guests of East Kazakhstan region a number of electronic card pay phones were set up enabling the people to call to anywhere in the world at any time. There are 450 pay phones of which 233 are in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Internet is getting more popular among the clients of Kazakhtelecom. It is estimated that more than 1.5 th. individuals and 500 legal entities are using this service, a 50% increase against similar period of last year. The traffic increased by 43% against last year in minutes. Total mounted capacity of the ATS of the region is 236,064 numbers, of which 206,783 are used, or 87.6%. It is 13.3 phones for 100 residents on average (national average - 12.8). There are 291 rural stations with 64,222 numbers, of which 46,839 are used, or 72.9%. It is 7.2 phones for 100 residents at national average of 4.7. Total investments in East Kazakhstan region telecommunication reached KZT77.78m in 2000. And this figure is expected at KZT149m this year.
