Aluminum of Kazakhstan decreased alumina production in Jan - July of 2001

/IRBIS, Sept 03, 01/ - REUTERS bureau - Astana with reference to the public
relations department of Aluminum of Kazakhstan company informs that
company produced 682.018 tonnes of alumina during seven months of this
year in comparison with 698.875 tonnes of last year similar period.
According to the information "some decrease of production volume has no
serious reasons. And this will not prevent the company to achieve till the end
of 2001 the level 1.2 m tonnes of alumina."
During seven months of this year the volume of investments increased to
88.5% to the level of last year and totaled KZT2.8bn. During the same period
bauxite extraction totaled 1.98 tonnes.
Aluminum of Kazakhstan company is the single producer of alumina in
Kazakhstan and is among the group of companies which are controlled by
Eurasian bank. The group unites alumina production, several mines and
power generating sites, ferroalloys production and iron ore resources
production.
Russian aluminum plants consume all alumina produced in Kazakhstan.
