/KASE, June 29, 01/ - Kazakhtelecom (Astana) provided the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) with its financial statements for the first quarter of 2001: balance sheet and income statement. Sales increased by 1.5bn, or 18.0% relative to similar period of 2000, and cost of goods sold - by 1.0bn, or 23.2%, expenses of the period increased by 56.3m, or 4.5%. As a result, net income received by Kazakhtelecom in Q1 2001 equaled 3.0bn, or 224.9m or 8.2% more than in corresponding period of 2000. Following securities of Kazakhtelecom were admitted to the official list of the KASE securities under category "A": - on October 16, 1997 - common inscribed (KZ1C12280417, trade code - KZTK) and preferred inscribed (KZ1P12280412, trade code - KZTKp) shares; - on April 2, 2001 - inscribed coupon bonds (KZ2CUY03A347, trade code - KZTKb1).
