Aliuminii Kazakhstana produced 200,433 tons of limestone in January- February 01/00

/IRBIS, March 30, 01/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to the public
relations department of Aliuminii Kazakhstana, that the company produced
up to 200,433 tons of limestone in January-February 2001 relative to
197,180 tons in two months of previous year.
Increase is due to an improvement of the technology at some stages of the
processing, is said.
Bauxite production is up to 570,746 tons from 527,092 tons of last year.
The company says that the production increase is in line with 5-year plan
adopted at the company that means the achievement of 1.5 mln tons of
limestone in 2005, whereas last year production reached 1.2 mln tons.
The production exceeded the planned volume by 68,000 tons, was said.
Five-year plan means the introduction of additional 45 production facilities
till the year 2005, with the biggest one being the hydrometallurgical workshop
for calcium oven estimated at $6.5 mln to be put into service in November of
this year.
Commodity production is said to have reached KZT5,265,138,000 or 32%
more than last year.
Within 2 months the investments reached KZT518,153 mln, is said.
Aliuminii Kazakhstana, along with Pavlodar aluminum smelter, a number of
mines and power facilities are located in the north of Kazakhstan and
controlled by Eurasian Bank.
