/IRBIS, Dec.15, 00/ - The Great Silk Road World News Agency informs that
under the program for the state-purchase of grain from the harvest 2000, and
to stabilize the domestic grain market and support agricultural producers, the
Kazakh government supported proposal by the Food Contract Corporation to
raise the purchasing price for soft sorts of wheat not lower than the 3rd class
to $100 per ton. This is not the first measure taken by the government to
support rural producers. The primary purchasing price in 2000 stood at $70-
75 per ton, and was then raised to $80-85. The amount to be purchased is
set at 200,000 tons. This will be enough to satisfy the mill-plant demand and
provide the internal market with bread.
