In October volume of transactions in foreign exchange at KASE reached equivalent of USD109.1 mln

/IRBIS, Nov.1, 00/ - In October of the year 2000 in foreign exchange trade sector of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) trades were held in U.S. dollars (TOD, TOM, SPOT terms), Deutsche marks (TOD, TOM terms), euros (TOD, TOM), and Russian roubles (TOD). Three sessions were held daily: the morning (main - TOD), day (additional - TOD) and evening (TOM, SPOT). Total of 1,516 deals were made within a month, including: in U.S. dollars at the main and additional sessions on TOD terms - 1,427, on TOM terms - 85; in Deutsche mark on TOD terms - 4. Total volume of the operations (hereafter corresponding figures for previous month are given in parentheses) reached an equivalent of KZT15,558.8 mln (24,760.2), or $109,129.3 th.(173,526.0). The U.S. dollar accounted for 99.9% (99.9%) of the Exchange's total turnover. Volume of transactions in U.S. dollars reached $109,110.0 th. ($173,500.0) for KZT15,556.2 (KZT24,756.4) mln, including: - at the main and additional sessions on TOD terms - $105,195.0 th. ($173,500.0) for an amount of KZT14,998.3 mln (KZT24,756.4) with average of the trade sessions $5,009.3 th. ($8,261.9); - at the evening sessions on TOM term - $3,915.0 th. ($200.0) for an amount of KZT557.9 mln (28.5). In October of the year 1999 total volume of operations in U.S. dollars at KASE equaled $249,135.0 th. for an amount of KZT35,180.1 mln. Tenge devaluation rate, calculated at weighted average rate of the main session of the Exchange, is estimated in October (Sep.30,00 = 142.58 - Oct.31,00 = 142.58) by a trend of 0% APR. In other words, the tenge to dollar exchange rate did not change by the results of the month. Last month average devaluation rate of tenge was negative at 0.5% APR. Weighted average rate of the U.S. dollar against the tenge, calculated by the deals of the main session in October - KZT142.57 per unit. For September - KZT142.69 per dollar. From the beginning of the year through October 31 corresponding figure equaled KZT141.93 per dollar and grew up from KZT141.87 during the month. Based on the data of the National Bank, volume of interbank over-the- counter deals in U.S. dollars between the operators-residents of Kazakhstan in October, 2000 reached $287.851 th. Volume of all interbank over-the-counter market purchases - $297,317.0 th., sales - $317,380.0 th. For Deutsche marks volume of transactions in October equaled DM40.0 th. (60.0) for an amount of KZT2.6 (KZT3.8) mln. Tenge devaluation rate towards the mark, calculated at weighted average rate of the Exchange, is estimated in October (Sep.30,00 = 62.44 - Oct.31,00 = 62.50) by a trend of 1.1% APR. Last month tenge revalued against the mark at an average of 61.1% APR. In euros and Russian roubles no deals were made at the KASE in October.
