STATISTICS: weekly volume of transactions in forex at KASE - equivalent of $26.849 mln

/IRBIS, Oct 13, 00/ - During the forty first calendar week of year 2000 (October 09-15) trades in U.S. dollars, Deutsche marks and Euro on TOD, TOM and SPOT terms were held in foreign exchange sector of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE). Three trade sessions were held during each day: the morning (main, USD_TOD, DEM_TOD, EUR_TOD), day (additional USD_TOD, DEM_TOD, EUR_TOD) and evening (USD_TOM, USD_SPOT, DEM_TOM, EUR_TOM). In U.S. dollars (hereafter corresponding figures for previous month are given in parentheses): 403 (291) deals were made for a total of $26,830 th. ($26,100 th.). On the previous day, deals were concluded TOD ($22.915 th) and TOM ($3,915 th). Average volume of the trading day at KASE in U.S. dollars equalled $5,366 th. ($5,220 th.). Tenge devaluation against the U.S. dollar, calculated at weighted average rate of the Exchange on October 13 (by results of the morning session), is estimated by a trend: - short-term (week) - negative 6.0% (-2.9%) APR, - mid-term (last 30 days) - negative 0.5% (-2.3%) APR, - long-term (from the beginning of this year) - 4.1% (4.0%) APR. In Deutsche marks, 3 deals were made for a total of 35 th. (0). Deals made on TOD terms. Tenge vis-a-vis Deutsche mark devaluated by 37.9% APR. No deals were made Euros. In total, weekly deals volume in KASE forex market amounted to $26,849 th ($26,100 th) or KZT3,827.8 mln (KZT3,718.6 mln). Daily average volume - 5,369.8 th ($5,220.0 th). From October 03 to 09 (more earlier data are unavailable) daily `volume of deals in the U.S. dollars on the interbank over-the-counter market between Kazakhstan bank-residents varied from $8,188.0 th. to $21,415.0 th.
