Oil exports from Kazakhstan in January-May of 2000 - 11.4 mln tons

/IRBIS, July 19, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to statistics
agency, that oil and gas condensate exports from Kazakhstan in January-
May of the year 2000 equaled 11.4 mln tons, 27% increase compared to
similar period of last year.
In terms of value, oil and gas condensate exports grew 3 times in five
months of this year, at $1.56 bln, is said.
Kazakhstan is said to extract about 27-30 mln tons of oil and two thirds of
this volume is exported.
The Kazakhstani oil exporters have 14.0 mln ton quota on transit through the
Russian pipelines this year, whereas it was 7.0 mln tons last year.
Mineral resources are said to account for 51% of exports.
The agency informs that the country's exports from January-May doubled
compared to similar period of last year, at $3,495 bln. Trade balance is
positive at $1.71 bln.

Statistics agency says that the proportion of the products of metallurgy
industry shrank by 8%, while that of chemical industry - by 3%.
It is also said that the proportion of mineral resources, including oil and gas
condensate increased by 12.0%, as well as a slight increase was noticed in
food items and machinery.
