/IRBIS, July 17, 00/ - MFD-InfoCenter informs, with the reference to Bridge
News, that on Sunday some major oil exporters, including Saudi Arabia,
supported the suggestion to call an extraordinary meeting of OPEC countries
to solve the matter on possible new increase in oil production quota to satisfy
growing demand.
It is believed that holding a meeting ahead of schedule will make it possible
for new oil supplies to reach the furthest markets on time, if the quotas are to
be increased. Thus, the USA may be affected only 50 days after the
meeting, hence it is useless to hold the meeting in late July, since it may not
satisfy growing demand on time.
