In Kazakhstan industrial production fell by 9.1% in June 2000 relative to May

/IRBIS, July 17, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to the Statistics
agency of Kazakhstan, that the country's industrial production fell by 9.1% in
June 2000 relative to May, with the decrease in the first half of the year
reaching 16.3% compared to similar period of last year.
It is said that in real terms the country's industrial enterprises (including
small, subsidiary enterprises and household sector) produced KZT788.7 bln
worth of goods in half year.
There is no information regarding the reasons of the decrease in June
relative to May.
The biggest industrial growth, 22.7%, was observed with respect to the first
half of 1999 in: mining industry due to 3.6 time increase in iron ore
production, in natural gas production - 1.2 times, non-ferrous metal ore
production - 16.3%, crude oil and casing head gas - 14.3%.
The Statistics agency informs that in processing industry growth equaled
19.4% in similar period of time, in generation and distribution of electricity -
1.8%.
