Volume of transactions in June of 2000 in foreign currencies at KASE reached equivalent of USD139.9 mln

/IRBIS, July 4, 00/ - In June of the year 2000 in foreign currency trade sector of Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) trades were held in U.S. dollars (TOD, TOM, SPOT terms), Deutsche marks (TOD, TOM terms) and euros (TOD, TOM). Three session were held daily: the morning (main - TOD), day (additional - TOD) and evening (TOM, SPOT). Total of 2,011 deals were made in a month, including: - in U.S. dollars at the main and additional sessions on TOD terms - 2,008; - in Deutsche mark on TOD terms - 1; - in eurocurrency on TOD terms - 2. Total volume of the operations (hereafter corresponding figures for previous month are given in parentheses) reached an equivalent of KZT19,951.7 (18,107.9) mln, or 139,872.4 (127,256.6) th. U.S. dollars. U.S. dollar accounted for 99.9% (99.9%) of Exchange's total turnover. Volume of transactions in U.S. dollars reached $139,860.0 ($127,195.0) th. for KZT19,949.7 (KZT18,099.0) mln at the main and additional sessions on TOD terms. In June of the year 1999 total volume of operations in U.S. dollars at KASE equaled $206,825.0 th. for an amount of KZT27,276.3 mln. Tenge devaluation rate, calculated at weighted average rate of the main session of the Exchange towards the dollar, is estimated in June of the year 2000 (May 31,00 = 142.3013 - June 30,00 = 142.8615) by a trend of 4.8% APR. Last month average devaluation rate of tenge towards the dollar was 2.4% APR. Weighted average rate of the U.S. dollar against the tenge, calculated by the deals of the main session of June - KZT142.65 per unit. For May of the year 2000 - KZT142.29 per dollar. From the beginning of the year 2000 through June 30, 2000 corresponding figure equaled KZT141.35 per dollar and grew from KZT141.07 during the month. Based on the data of the National Bank, volume of interbank over-the- counter deals in U.S. dollars between the operators-residents of Kazakhstan from June 1 through 26, 2000 reached $276.312 mln. Volume of all interbank over-the-counter market: purchases - $202,774.0 th., sales - $256,006.0 th. For Deutsche marks volume of transactions in June of the year 2000 equaled 10.0 (45.0) th. marks for an amount of KZT0.7 (KZT3.0) mln. Tenge devaluation rate towards the mark, calculated at weighted average rate of the Exchange, is estimated in June of the year 2000 (May 31,00 = 65.9000 - June 30,00 = 68.7000) by a trend of 51.6% APR. Last month tenge revalued against the mark at an average of 15.5% APR. For euros volume of transactions in June of the year 2000 reached 10.0 (45.0) th. euros for an amount of KZT1.4 (KZT5.9) mln. Tenge revaluation rate towards euro, calculated at weighted average rate of the Exchange, is estimated in June of the year 2000 (May 31,00 = 131.6250 - June 30,00 = 135.0450) by a trend of 31.5% APR. Last month tenge revalued against euro at an average of 14.3% APR.
