EBRD expects to buy 30% of Kazakhtelecom shares

/IRBIS, June 21, 00/ - REUTERS informs that European Bank for Reconstruction and Development sent an offer to buy 30% shares of Kazakhtelecom to the government of Kazakhstan. The representative of EBRD, Charles Franck reported that the bank offered to buy 30% for $70 mln in December of 1999. Earlier, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Serick Burkitbayev had mentioned $100 mln. Earlier this year, Kazakhtelecom received communication development credit from EBRD in the amount of $50 mln. It is notable that the credit was not guaranteed by the government.
