In April gross and net gold and currency reserves of the National Bank of Kazakhstan grew by 5.8% and 8.0%, respectively

/IRBIS, May 12, 00/ - By the information of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, in April of current year both gross and net international reserves of the bank grew. In real terms gross international reserves grew by 5.8% up to 1,981.5 mln U.S. dollars, net - by 8% up to $1,565.6 mln. Growth in international reserves by $108.8 mln was due to the replenishment of currency reserves by $106.8 mln and gold assets by $1.9 mln mainly by purchases of the National Bank on domestic market. The National Bank also informs that during April of current year increase in net international reserves of the National Bank caused the monetary base to expand by 3.8%, or KZT2.5 bln up to KZT105.5 bln.
