Volume of transactions in April of 2000 in foreign currencies at KASE reached equivalent of USD135.3 mln

/IRBIS, May 2, 00/ - In April 2000 in foreign currency trade sector of
Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) trades were held in U.S. dollars (TOD,
TOM, SPOT terms), Deutsche marks (TOD, TOM terms) and euros (TOD,
TOM). Three session were held daily: the morning (main - TOD), day
(additional - TOD) and evening (TOM, SPOT).
Total of 1,768 deals were made in a month, including:
- in U.S. dollars at the main and additional sessions on TOD terms - 1,749,
on TOM terms - 2;
- in Deutsche mark on TOD terms - 12;
- in eurocurrency on TOD terms - 5.
Total volume of the operations (hereafter corresponding figures for previous
month are given in parentheses) reached an equivalent of KZT19,244.9
(20,181.7) mln, or 135,305.6 (142,695.8) th. U.S. dollars.
U.S. dollar accounted for 99.7% (99.7%) of Exchange's total turnover.
Volume of transactions in U.S. dollars reached $134,910.0 ($142,275.0) th.
for KZT19,188.7 (KZT20,121.8) mln, including:
- at the main and additional sessions on TOD terms - $134,610.0
($139,075.0) th. for an amount of KZT19,145.9 (KZT19,669.5) mln with
average volume of the trade session $6,410.0 ($6.622.6) th.;
- at the evening session on TOM terms - $300.0 ($1,400.0) th. for an
amount of KZT42.7 (KZT197.9) mln.
In April of 1999 total volume of operations in U.S. dollars at KASE equaled
$171,600.0 th. for an amount of KZT19,527.6 mln.
Tenge devaluation rate, calculated at weighted average rate of the main
session of the Exchange towards the dollar, is estimated in April of 2000
(March 31,00 = 141.9471 - April 30,00 = 142.0079) by a trend of 0.5% APR.
Last month average devaluation rate of tenge towards the dollar was 12.6%
APR.
Weighted average rate of the U.S. dollar against the tenge, calculated by the
deals of the main session of April - KZT141.42 per unit. For March of 2000 -
KZT141.42 per dollar. From the beginning of 2000 through April 30, 2000
corresponding figure equaled KZT140.76 per dollar and grew from
KZT140.27 during the month.
Based on the data of the National Bank, volume of interbank deals in U.S.
dollars between the operators-residents of Kazakhstan from April 1 through
27, 2000 reached $199.606 mln. Volume of all interbank market: purchases
- $216,606.0 th., sales - $237,888.0 th.
For Deutsche marks volume of transactions in April of 2000 equaled 275.0
(85.0) th. marks for an amount of KZT19.1 mln (KZT5.9 mln).
Tenge revaluation rate towards the mark, calculated at weighted average
rate of the Exchange, is estimated in April of 2000 (March 31,00 = 70.3000 -
April 30,00 = 66.7800) by a trend of 60.8% APR. Last month tenge devalued
against the mark at an average of 14.8% APR.
Weighted average rate of Deutsche mark towards the tenge, calculated by
all April deals - KZT69.47 per mark. For March - 70.24.
For euros volume of transactions in April of 2000 reached 75.0 (395.0) th.
euros for an amount of KZT10.2 (KZT53.8) mln.
Tenge revaluation rate towards euro, calculated at weighted average rate of
the Exchange, is estimated in April of 2000 (March 31,00 = 137.4000 - April
30,00 = 133.2500) by a trend of 36.7% APR. Last month tenge revalued
against euro at an average of 14.8% APR.
