"KazTransOil" to raise oil transportation tariffs up to $15 per 1 th. km from April 1

/IRBIS, March 31, 00/ - PRIME-TASS informs, with the reference to public
relations department of the company, that national oil transportation
company "KazTransOil" /Kazakhstan/ raises tariffs on transportation of 1 ton
of oil for 1 th. km for Western, Eastern and Aktobe branches up to $15.
It is especially stipulated that the payments of oil refineries and oil
producing companies-residents of Kazakhstan for transportation services to
Kazakhstani refineries would be made in tenges at official rate of the
National Bank effective on April 1, 1999 - KZT87.5 per dollar.
It is expected that additional income of the company due to new tariffs will
reach about KZT10 bln this year /approximately $70.9 mln/, and additional
budgetary payments and to off-budgetary funds is to equal KZT7 bln /$49.6
mln/.
It is said that tariffs were calculated and approved according to current
tariff methodology which provides for real market value of the company assets.
The main principle of tariff methodology of the company is the return of the
cost of capital for the assets used.
