At KASE increasing deficit of tenge forces BST to sell USD

/IRBIS, March 29, 00/ - Today the next morning trades in U.S. dollars, Deutsche marks and euros were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment terms. 15 banks participated in the trades. Today the trades in U.S. dollars opened at KZT141.97 per unit. Total of 87 deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to KZT141.85 (-0.10) per unit. Volume of the session - $2.580 mln (-$4.430 mln). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade - 0.10%. The trades were closed at KZT141.86/87 per dollar. Ever increasing deficit of tenge forced the banks to increase their sales of dollars today. The session demonstrated an objectively balanced market, where the American currency was traded within KZT141.83 - 141.87 per unit interval without explicit trends. Based on the quotations of the shortest money, which grew up to 15/20% APR today, the banks will hardly be able to get the USD to grow. One hour after closing of the morning session on interbank market of Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at KZT141.81/85 per unit. Two hours later - KZT141.80/85. In the day session of KASE with TOD payment terms at 12:30PM the dollar was at KZT141.82/87. Deutsche mark, morning session, TOD: no deals. Closing quotations - KZT69.70/70.00 for mark.
