/IRBIS, March 28, 00/ - PRIME-TASS informs, with the reference to Statistics
committee of CIS, that by January-February results Kazakhstan took the
second place in CIS on industrial growth rates, only after Georgia.
PRIME-TASS informs that during first two months industrial production rose
17.8% in Georgia, 14.8% in Kazakhstan, and 13% in Russia.
Industrial decline has been observed in one country only - Kyrgyzstan
(3.8%), said the committee.
It is said industrial growth reached 10.2% in Ukraine, 8.6% in Belarus, 7% in
Moldova, 5.5% in Tadjikistan, 4.6% in Uzbekistan, 4.5% in Azerbaijan, and
1% in Armenia.
As usually, there is no data on production dynamics in Turkmenistan.
Information on GDP in January, 2000 for 7 countries of CIS with the most
growth rates: Azerbaijan - 7.4%, Belarus - 7%, Ukraine and Kazakhstan -
6.1% each, Kyrgyzstan - 1.7%, Tadjikistan - 1.5% and Armenia - 1.4%.
It is said no decrease was observed in any of the countries whose figures
are available.
