V.PUTIN ELECTED AS THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA - HEAD OF CEC

/IRBIS, March 27, 00/ - PRIME-TASS informs, with the reference to the head
of CEC Aleksandr Veshnyakov, that Vladimir Putin was elected as the
president of Russian Federation.
ITAR-TASS informs that official results of the election will be published not
later than April 6.
By 10:00AM Moscow time 94.27% of votes had been processed. By
preliminary estimates votes were distributed as follows:
- Stanislav Govorukhin 0.45%
- Umar Djabrailov 0.08%
- Vladimir Jirinovskii 2.72%
- Gennadi Zyuganov 29.44%
- Ella Pamfolova 1.02%
- Aleksei Podbereskin 0.14%
- Vladimir Putin 52.52%
- Yurii Skuratov 0.43%
- Konstantin Titov 1.5%
- Aman Tuleev 3.04%
- Grigorii Yuavlinskii 5.85%
- against all candidates 1.9%
It is said a total of 68.86% of registered voters throughout the Russia took
part in the elections.
Putin Vladimir Vladimirovich was born on October 7, 1952 in Leningrad. In
1975 he graduated law department of Leningrad state university /LSU/.
Master of economic science. He speaks German. From 1975 he worked in
External intelligence department of KGB USSR. He has worked in Germany
for a long time. Upon return to Leningrad he became an assistant to vice
rector of Leningrad state university on international affairs. In 1990 -
advisor of the chairman of Leningrad city council. 1991 - 1992 - chairman of
the committee on external affairs of the mayor of Saint Petersburg.
1992 - 1994 - vice mayor of Saint Petersburg - chairman of the committee on
external affairs. In 1994 - first vice chairman of the government of Saint
Petersburg - chairman of the committee on external affairs. 1994 - 1996 - first
vice mayor of Saint Petersburg - chairman of the committee on external affairs.
1996 - 1997 - vice manager of the president's affairs. 1997 - 1998 - vice head
of the president's administration - the head of the major controlling
administration of the Russian president. From Mary 1998 through July 1998 -
first vice head of the Russian Federation president's administration.
