In January–July 2014 volume of foreign currency trading on KASE increased 1.8 times and made up KZT16.9 trln ($95.5 bn)

/KASE, August 4, 14/ – In January–July 2014, the volume of trading in foreign currencies on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), including currency swap transactions, made up KZT16,912.9 bn (equivalent to USD95,541.1 mln) and increased against the similar period of 2013 1.8 times (1.5 % in dollar terms). In comparison with the previous seven month period (June–December 2013) the trades volume increased by 35.8 % (17.5 % in dollar terms). The tenge in the current year devalued against the US dollar on a weighted average exchange rate of 32.65 % APR. In the first seven months of 2014 the devaluation rate of the tenge to US dollar in nominal terms made up 18.97 %. In 2013 the devaluation rate of the tenge against the US dollar in nominal terms made up 1.58 %. In 2012 the revaluation rate of the tenge against the US dollar in nominal terms made up 1.58 %.
