Growth in industrial output of Kazakhstan in January-February, 2000 - 14.8%

/IRBIS, March 13,00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to public
relations department of the prime-minister, that growth in industrial output of
Kazakhstan in January-February, 2000 reached 14.8% against comparable
period of 1999.
The press-release reads that the results of the country's industry in January-
February have been summarized and that the data of the Statistics agency
has shown 14.8% growth in January-February.
It is said growth in industrial output was due to increases in mining industry
by 24.5%, in processing industry by 16.8%, and in production of electric
power and gas.
Growth in mining industry was caused by 2.6 time increase in iron ore
extraction, 1.4 time in natural gas production, 1.3 time in coal, and 1.2 time
in non-ferrous metals, crude oil and by-gas production.
