KASE: dollar continues to grow with active demand of BST

/IRBIS, March 6, 00/ - Today the next morning trades in U.S. dollars, Deutsche marks and euros were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment terms. 19 banks participated in the trades. Today the trades in U.S. dollars opened at KZT141.10 per unit. Total of 122 deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to KZT141.07 (+0.23) per unit. Volume of the session - $5.230 mln (+$1.330 mln). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade - 0.07%. The trades were closed at KZT141.06/07 per dollar. After the first test deals with minimum volumes that caused the price of the dollar to fluctuate in a quite wide range, the market accepted strong opening of today's session. But the exchange rate of the American currency did not go any higher, notwithstanding an active demand of the banks of the second tier. The reason for that was the emergence of an essential volumes of dollar supplies from three participants, the sellers, that enabled them to maintain the balance during the remaining part of the trades at KZT141.09, then at KZT141.07 per dollar. It is interesting to note that today almost all the banks, registered in the trade system of the Exchange, took part in making deals, with the most of participating dealers preferring to buy dollars. This means that the banks are interested in buying the American currency even at growing prices. One hour after closing of the morning session on interbank market of Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at KZT141.04/09 per unit. Two hours later - KZT141.06/11. In the day session of KASE with TOD payment terms at 12:30PM the dollar was at KZT141.07/13. Deutsche mark, morning session, TOD: no deals were made. Closing quotations were absent. Euro, morning session, TOD: 1 deal was made at KZT135.30 (-3.85) per unit, volume - EUR5 (0) th. Closing quotations were absent.
