KAZAHTELEKOM promises to discharge DМЗ47.4 million German credit

/IRBIS, Feb.24, 00/ - Press-service of KAZAHTELEKOM (Almaty, official list
of securities KASE, "A" category) has informed the Kazakhstan stock
exchange (KASE) about planned discharge of the DМЗ47.4 million German
credit.
The credit was given to KAZAHTELEKOM in 1992-1993 years by the
German financial institutions for the republican telecommunications network
modernization and development. The means were given under the
Governments of Kazakhstan insurance at the average interest rate of 7.4%
p.a. and 10 years maturity. Thus, the total sum of the credit and interest
makes about DM 501.3 million.
According to the message as of February 08, 2000 about DM292 million
have been already discharged, including: redemption of the basic debt -
165.8 million, interest - 125.7 million.
The received means have been directed on establishment of an automatic
long-distance telephone stations in Astana, Ust'-Kamenogorsk, Zhezkazgan,
Karaganda, Kokshetau, Kostanaj, Petropavlovsk, Arkalyk, Aktau, Shymkent.
Besides the telephone networks of these cities has been modernizated
through installation of 121 S-12 digital stations and also the digital
radiorelay lines Astana - Kokshetau - Petropavlovsk, Kostanaj - Kachary,
Kostanaj -Zhetikara, Karaganda - Temirtau have been installed.
