According to NSC total amount of net pension assets in Kazakhstan at the beginning of February - $485.1 mln

/IRBIS, Feb.17, 00/ - According to the data of the National securities
commission of Kazakhstan (NSC), total amount of net pension assets (PA) in
the country (total pension assets less charged commissions and accounts
payable) as of February 1, 2000 equaled KZT67,594.5 mln or $485.1 mln at
current weighted average Exchange rate. Corresponding figure for January
1, 2000 - KZT64,501.6 mln or $466.6 mln.
During the month APF assets grew 4.8% in terms of tenges or 4.0% - in
terms of dollars. For previous month growth rate was higher. In December
the assets rose 7.7% in terms of tenges and 7.5% in currency terms, which
was explained by paying off the debt to budgetary employees by the
government, New Year bonuses and paying off salaries ahead of schedule.
At the same time, despite all the expectations, growth rate was higher in
January than it was in November (2.5% and 3.9%, respectively) and in
October (3.7% and 1.2%).
By the beginning of February PA reached KZT67,737,9 mln, of which
KZT67,475.6 mln was invested.
There were seven PAMC in the country, 15 private and one state APF. The
number of PAMC and funds did not change within a month.
Share of SAPF assets decreased from 52.5 to 51.7% in a month.
The biggest PAPF at the end of January: CJSC "APF Halyk Bank of
Kazakhstan" (16.6% of assets) and CJSC "OAPF "Ular" (6.3%).
PAMC of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan is the leader in term of assets it
manages (16.6% of the total), PAMC "JETYSU" (10.2%) is the second in the
list. Priorities did not change here.
CJSC "APF "Korgau" is the leader in terms of the growth rate of its
pension assets in January (15.1% in tenges and 14.2% in currency terms).
The least growth rate was observed in SAPF.
Invested assets were distributed among financial instruments as follows (in
parentheses - corresponding figure for January 1, 2000):
- domestic SS of the Ministry of finance (KZT) - 3.09% (4.22%);
- domestic SS of the Ministry of finance (USD) - 52.51% (52.23%);
- eurobonds of sovereign debt of Kazakhstan (USD) - 37.10% (36.18%);
- notes of the National Bank (KZT) - 1.96 % (2.43%);
- bonds of local executive bodies of Kazakhstan (USD) - 0.54% (0.29%);
- private securities (KZT) - 0.36% (0.37%);
- private securities (foreign currencies) - 2.72% (2.62%);
- deposits and certificates of deposit (KZT) - 0.34% (0.68%);
- deposits and certificates of deposit (foreign currencies) - 1.38% (0.98%).
