USD/KZT at closing of the day - 139.28/32 (indicators)

/IRBIS, Feb.03, 00/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of interbank currency market of Kazakhstan on February 03 tenge quotations towards U.S. dollar equaled 139.28/32 tenge per dollar. Compared to the results of the previous day tenge increased by 1 point against US dollar on demand and has by 2 points on supply. The interbank dollar quotations after noon demonstrated tenge increase at the rather narrow (3-5 points) spreads. In main (morning) session weighted average rate of the dollar with TOD terms equaled 139.37 (+0.03) tenge per dollar and closing quotations - 139.36/37. As it was informed earlier, today for the first time the additional (day) US dollar session under the TOD accounts has appeared productive. Five deals to the total sum of $1,6 million were made. The price interval has made 139.31 - 139.33 tenges for dollar. At the session closing the dollar quotation have amounted to 139.30/33. By the closing (5:30PM) of the evening TOM trades dollar was offered for 139.33 tenges at the demand absence. Under the SPOT accounts supply price was 139.36 tenges for dollar, demand was also absent. Practically all market indicators speak about the further smooth tenge strengthening. By results of the dealer questioning conducted today by REUTERS, the dealers explain the tendency by the recently receipts in the market of the exporters foreign exchange earnings. In the dealer's opinion, USD demand is now not so high, as it was in the beginning of month, and less than the dollar supply. Therefore dollar decreases that is somewhat delayed be the National Bank activity. However, considering three last market days, it looks as the dealers overestimate the National Bank influence. An existing tenge / dollar supply and demand balance is completely objective today. The dealers also speak the interbank market is still more active than Exchange's, despite of temporary cancellation on KASE of the commission. The market is liquid and quiet. In the second decade of February the dealers predict decrease of volume of dollar sales that, in their opinion, is capable to result in some dollar growth. "There are no special preconditions for tenge strengthening. It is a question of supply and demand", - the dealer of CityBank Timur Gabbasov has told today to REUTERS. By the market indicators, tenge towards U.S. dollar on KASE on Friday is capable to become somewhat stronger.
