JSC Aluminii Kazakhstana produced 1.152 mln tons of alumina in 1999

/IRBIS, Feb.3, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to the general director of JSC Almaz Ibragimov, that production of alumina at JSC Aluminii Kazakhstana reached 1,152,000 tons, up 6.7% relative to 1998. "Increase in volume of the production in 1999 can be explained by a growth in demand for our production, and also by introduction of new technologies developed by our specialists, which allow to increase the production", said the general director. He said sales had reached KZT18.3 bln last year. All alumina is bought by Siberian aluminum plants. Production of bauxite reached 3.6 mln tons, or 4.9% growth to the level of 1998 at Turgai and Krasnooktyabrskii bauxite mines. He also informed fixed capital investments reached KZT1.493 bln (118% growth) mainly due to internal resources of the company. KZT743 mln was spent to buy spare parts for mining equipment. A year ago KZT340.8 mln was spent for this purpose. The company paid KZT4.3 bln in taxes last year. The number of workers was 10,186, average wage was KZT23,003. ($1=KZT139.37)
