KASE: activity of USD market is minimal again, the conjuncture does not change
31.01.00 00:00
/IRBIS, Jan.31, 00/ - The morning trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and
Euro were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment
terms. 14 banks participated in the trades.
Today the trades in US dollars opened at 139.40 tenge per unit. Total of 16
deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to 139.38
(0) tenge per unit. Volume of the session - $370 th. (-$2.945 mln).
Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade - 0.02%. The trades were closed
at 139.37/39 tenge per dollar.
There were no principal changes in the conjuncture of the Exchange market
for the U.S. dollar relative to that on Friday. Low volumes of the deals of the
banks, which were only buying dollars, did not make the demand to prevail
over supply, and as a result, exchange rate of the American currency
remained unchanged. Supply of BST were objectively balancing the demand.
Activity of the trades decreased again. This is a distinctive feature of latest
trades. Dealers still prefer to work in interbank market. However, of 14
traders that were registered in the trade system of the Exchange, 10 took
part in making deals. This is a quite high figure for last days.
Speculative component in dealers' behaviors was explicit today, though it
was less than that of Friday.
The dollar was traded within 139.37 - 139.40 price interval. Since the market
was not much active, exchange rate variation was not tendentious.
One hour after closing of the morning session on interbank market of
Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 139.31/36 tenge per unit, two hours later
they did not change. In the day session of KASE with TOD payment terms at
1:00PM the dollar was at 139.32/37.
Deutsche mark, morning session, TOD: 1 deal, price - 70.78 (-0.92)
tenge per unit, volume - DEM20 (-10) th. Closing quotations - 70.40/79
tenge for mark.

136.57/137.15 tenge for euro.
