USD/KZT at closing of the day - 139.36/39 (indicators)

/IRBIS, Jan.27, 00/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of interbank
currency market of Kazakhstan on January 27 tenge quotations towards US
dollar equaled 139.36/39 tenge per dollar.
Compared to the results of the previous day tenge gained 2 points against
US dollar on demand and 1 point on supply.
In main (morning) session weighted average rate of the dollar with TOD
terms equaled 139.39 (-0.01) tenge per dollar and closing quotations -
139.38/39.
At closing of additional day session with TOD terms (3:00PM Almaty time)
dollar quotations were at 139.35/40 tenge per dollar. In the evening trades
with TOM and SPT terms dollar was not quoted.
As it was yesterday, today interbank market remained practically stable.
Only a slight decrease in the exchange rate of the dollar was observed in
dealers' quotations in the middle of the day. By the evening they returned to
the level settled after closing of the Exchange trades. Spreads, after a
continuous growth from 2 to 5 points during the first half of the day,
decreased to 3 points by the closing of the market.
The situation in the currency circulation sector remains stable. Banks do not
take active steps both at Exchange trades and in interbank market. Today
quotations of the shortest money were at 2/6 APR, unchanged.
It is quite possible that tenge will continue the current firming trend at the
last session of the week. No significant exchange rate dynamics are expected.
