Ferrochrome (Kazakhstan) wants to increase alloy production from 230 th. tons in 1999

/IRBIS, Jan.13, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to public
relations department of the company, that Aktiyubinsk ferroalloy plant
Ferrochrome increased the production of ferroalloys in 1999 by producing
more than 230 thousand tons of ferroalloys and intends to increase it by
another 50 thousand tons in 2000.
It equals to 52.6% increase in commodity output in comparable prices to
1998. Last year the company's income reached KZT1.5 bln. There is no
comparison with respect to previous year.
"In 1999 goal-minded and planned work has been done to acquire new
equipment and technology. Implementation of these activities will let increase
production of ferroalloys for another 50 thousand tons, and significantly cut
the costs", is said in the press-release.
Last year assortment of company's products increased. Earlier, the company
used to produce only high-carbon ferroalloy, and now it produces medium-,
low-carbon ferrochromium and metallic chromium. The first shipment of
metallic chromium was sent to the United States late 1999.
JSC Ferrochrome, which is in the West of Kazakhstan, is the member of
transnational company (TNC) Kazchrome along with Aksu plant of
ferroalloys (North of the country) and Donskoi mining-concentration combine
(West of the country).
Various types of steel are produced by using ferroalloys.
