At KASE activity of USD market sharply declined

/IRBIS, Dec.23, 99/ - The morning trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and Euro were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment terms. 17 banks participated in the trades. Today the trades in US dollars opened at 138.12 tenge per unit. Total of 18 deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to 138.10 (-0.15) tenge per unit. Volume of the session - $120 thousand (-$1,135 mln). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade did not exceed 0.05%. The trades were closed at 138.10/12 tenge per dollar. The exchange market of the dollar was almost illiquid. Major operators were absent on the trade floor. Most of the currency market turnover went into interbank market. Dynamics of the dollar exchange rate during the trades met the criteria of "a thin" volatile market with its bi-directional fluctuations, small deals and low monopolization degree. In general, the trade results show that despite insignificant volume of the session, weighted average dollar rate of the Exchange is still indicative and reflect the balance of the market. One hour after closing of the morning session on interbank market of Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 138.05/11 tenge per unit, two hours later - 138.07/10. In the day session of KASE with TOD payment terms at 1:00PM the dollar was not quoted. Deutsche mark, morning session, TOD: no deals. Closing quotations - 71.10/72.00 tenge for mark. Euro, morning session, TOD: no deals. Closing quotations - 139.1/140.00 tenge for euro.
