Kazakhstan is not going at present to use the IMF credits - Nazarbaev

/IRBIS, Dec.22, 99/ - According to ITAR TASS, Kazakhstan is not going to
use at present credit resources from the new program of the International
monetary Fund,- the president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev has
informed to the journalists at the briefing concerning the results of official
visit in USA.
Within the framework of the three-years governmental program approved by
IMF for the reforms support $450 million can by granted to Kazakhstan.
Similar practice is quite a usual evens for relation of Fund and its customers.
The unused resources play a role of "insurance policy" on the case of
unexpected financial shocks.
Nazarbaev has informed also, that soon Astana should receive the second
transh of the $170 million loan, given by the World bank. The first transh is
already apportioned.
During the visit In Washington the President of Kazakhstan, in particular, has
met the manager of IMF Michele Kamdesu and representatives of the World
bank. As he said, they, in particular, discussed the lessons of recent
financial crisis in the Southeast Asia.
Some Kazakh - American contracts to the sum of about $600 million were
signed during the visit of the Kazakhstan President.
