Number of individual accounts involved in share transactions on KASE decreased by 6 % in December

/KASE, January 14, 14/ – In December 2013 the number of individual accounts involved in transactions in shares on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), decreased by 6 % on the previous month. At the same time the share of individuals in the gross turnover of shares in money terms decreased to 38.9 % from 49.7 % in November. The total gross turnover of deals in shares on KASE in November decreased 10 times compared with the previous month making KZT8.6 bn (the volume of trades in shares without taking special trades into account made KZT4.3 bn). This decrease is based on conclusion in November of a series of major deals in ordinary shares KZ1C59400016 (KZ1C00000967, KASE official list, third category, SHZN) of ShalkiyaZinc LTD (Almaty). As of the end of the month according to Central Securities Depository (Almaty, hereinafter – CD), the total number of individual accounts opened on behalf of individuals reached 54,854, which is by 346 accounts less than at the end of the previous month, and by 2,548 accounts more than at the beginning of 2013. According to the CD the number of accounts opened is reducing due to closure of dormant accounts where securities were absent for more than six months. Below is information on the development of the number of individual accounts opened in the CD, the number of accounts involved in share transactions on KASE (Accounts in deals), gross turnover of trade in shares over such accounts, as well as their portion in the total gross turnover of share trade.
