/IRBIS, Dec.02, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of interbank
currency market of Kazakhstan on December 02 tenge quotations towards
US dollar equaled 138.05/12 tenge per dollar.
Compared to the results of the previous day tenge remained unchanged on
demand against US dollar and gained 3 points on supply.
On main (morning) session weighted average rate of the dollar with TOD
terms equaled 138.08 (+0.03) tenge per dollar and closing quotations -
138.06/16.
At closing of an additional day session with TOD terms and evening trades
with SPT terms USD was not quoted.
At last hours before the closing of the market dollar quotations on interbank
market showed a little firming of an American currency. Quotations did not
exceed maximum levels noticed in the morning session of the Exchange
though.
Spreads reached 10 points at most, which is normal working levels of the
market.
Rates of interbank "overnight" deposits are at 3/8 APR. This is the lowest
level after a decrease from 5/10 APR observed at noon.
Judging by moves of the quotations in the second half of the day, no
principal changes should occur at KASE. In IRBIS analysts' opinion, dollar
has equal chances of gaining 10 points and loosing them. Probability of large
volume of dollars showing up on the floor is high, and it is the volume of
supply that affects the exchange rate dynamics.
