At KASE tenge grew with relatively high demand for USD from BST

/IRBIS, Nov.26, 99/ - The next trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and Euro
were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE). 18 banks participated in
the trades.
Today the trades in US dollars opened at 137.70 tenge per unit. Total of 93
deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to 137.67
(-0.11) tenge per unit. Volume of the session - $2.895 mln (+$1,200 mln).
Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade did not exceed 0.12%. The trades
were closed at 137.68/69 tenge per dollar.
The market has gotten active only by end of the session, after a beginning
reduction in the price of the dollar down to 137.56 - 137.57 tenge. Still,
transaction volumes for most of the participants are not big, 200 thousand at
most. Four participants of the session accounted for most of the currency
turnover: two sellers and as many buyers.
Results of the session: tenge keeps firming with a relatively high demand
from the banks of the second tier. The market seems to be balanced, though
this equilibrium can hardly be characterized as stable.
One hour after closing of the trades on interbank market of Kazakhstan
dollar was quoted at 137.71/76 tenge per unit, two hours later -137.71/81
Deutsche mark: 1 deal at 71.80 (-0.60) tenge per unit, volume - DEM15 (-
5) thousand. At closing of the session Deutsche mark was quoted at
71.55/80 tenge per unit.
Euro: no deals. At closing of the session euro was quoted at 139.80/140.42
tenge per unit.
