At KASE the banks keep selling dollars actively

/IRBIS, Nov.23, 99/ - The next trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and Euro
were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE). 21 banks participated in
the trades.
Today the trades in US dollars opened at 137.45 tenge per unit. Total of
194 deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to
137.58 (- 0.24) tenge per unit. Volume of the session - $20.170 mln
(+$9,625 mln). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade did not
exceed 0.15%. The trades were closed at 137.60/61 tenge per dollar.
Nothing has changed on the floor. The banks of the second tier are
recklessly shortening their currency positions by selling large volumes of
USD. All of them are still bought by a single buyer who was keeping the
market balanced today at 137.60 tenge per dollar. Most of the banks of the
second tier did not buy even a cent. Speculative motives in behaviors of the
dealers were almost absent.
One hour after closing of the trades on over-the-counter market of
Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 137.48/56 tenge per unit, two hours later -
137.42/52.
Deutsche mark: 2 deals, weighted average - 72.60 (-0.27) tenge per unit,
volume - DEM10 (-5) thousand. At closing of the session Deutsche mark
was quoted at 72.50/75 tenge per unit.
Euro: no deals. At closing of the session euro was asked for 141.02 tenge
per unit.
