/IRBIS, Nov.16 99/ - According to REUTERS, at the moment of closing of
Kazakhstan's OTC-market on November 18 tenge/dollar quotations have
made 138.50/70 tenge per dollar at the average weighted exchange rate of
138.40 (-0.32) and session closing quotations of 138.40/42.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the previous day
closing decreased by 35 point on demand and by 30 points on supply.
In contrast to the last days dollar has increased today in the interbank
market. The dollar strengthening has become apparent on the demand
quotations, which have been growing till the day closing.
The spreads have converged by the day closing. After closing of the
exchange trades they have varied from 10 to 25 points at average - 20. It
looks as if the dealer's reliance in the future tenge strengthening weakening.
The rates of the overnight interbank tenge deposits at the market closing
have amounted to 1.5/5.5% as against 4/12% in the morning. The short
money demand is within the usual limits, that is also confirmed by absence
of the opening transactions in the repo sector.
By the interbank dollar quotations, the dollar rate on Friday's trades can
somewhat increase. Cancellation of two notes auctions and replacement of
the notes by MEKKAM-3 and MEKKAM-6 are capable to create tenge
surplus, because the dealers' majority is not ready to put money in the rather
long not indexed securities.
