/IRBIS, Nov.11, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at the moment of closing of
Kazakhstan's OTC-market on November 11 tenge/dollar quotations have
made 139.70/76 tenge per dollar at the average weighted exchange rate of
139.45 (-0.47) and session closing quotations of 139.76/82.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the previous day
closing decreased by 1 point on demand and increased by 3 points on
supply.
As against exchange trades, where the dollar rate unidirectional rose during
the session, fluctuations of the interbank market quotations were less active.
They did not exceed five points. Tenge increase was observed only by the
day ending and only on the dollar supply.
The spreads varied today from 2 to 20 points at average 12. Their decrease
began after dinner and at the moment of market closing the spreads varied
from 2 to 6 points.
The rates of the overnight interbank deposits varied today from 12/27% at
the morning to 5/12% p.a. At 6:00 p.m. Almaty time the price of short money
was established at 6/12% p.a. In the repo sector the banks of the second tier
attracted money for 6 days under 12% p.a. In the dealers opinion, that
growth of the short money price was stipulated first of all by failures in work
of Interbanc Settlements Center of Kazakhstan, which recently works not so
operatively. In result the banks can not receive money in time and are
obliged to look for it.
Analyzing results of the dealers interrogation, IRBIS's experts are inclined
to expect small dollar strengthening on KASE on Friday. Except for an objective
parameters of day closing and dollar market rates, it is necessary to take into
account, that day off in USA did not promote active buying of dollars by
banks of the second tier (all payments under USD exchange trades are
executed through the U.S. banks). The same factor will not allow the
exporters to offer on tomorrow's trades USD proceeds. The cancellation of
the notes auction has resulted today in appearance of additional tenges. And
the Thursday's and Friday's State Securities redemption are capable to
increase this amount.
