/IRBIS, Nov.08, 99/ - On the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) next trades in
US dollar, deutsche mark and евро were held with participation of 22 banks.
US dollar: trades today were opened at a mark of 140.25 tenge for unit.
Total Is made total 234 bargains. An average weighted rate of dollar was 139.97
(-0.38) tenge for dollar. Volume of the session was $12.420 million
(+ $630,000). The amplitude of the dollar rate fluctuation reached 0.26%.
The closing quotations were 139.91/92 tenge per dollar.
During whole trade, order of which was changed by the technical reasons, the
rate of dollar unidirectional and quickly fell. Supply exceeded demand. Large
volumes of dollars were sold by three banks of the second tier, most likely they
carried out their customers' application under obligatory sale of the hard
currency proceeds. Also there were not so many buyers and they mostly dealt
with transactions not exceeding 100,000 USD.
The relative balance of supply and demand was achieved on the market only at
the last minutes of session, when the dollar rate decreased to 139.90 tenge for
unit, dollar quotation - to 139.90 - 139.94.
The IRBIS' analysts do not exclude, that inactivity of the majority was
explained today by technical failures. Preparing to the year 2000 Exchanges
carried out today a testing of the smaller reserve trade server.
One hour after session closing on OTS market of Kazakhstan dollar was quoted
at the level of 139.88/140.03 tenge.
Deutsche mark: 3 transactions were made. An average weighted rate was 75.22
(-0.03) tenge per dollar. Volume of the session was DEM55,000 (0). At the
session closing the quotation were 75.00/25 tenge per mark.
Euro: transactions were not made. At the session closing the quotation made
145.00/149.20 tenge for unit.
