After negotiations with IMF Kazakhstan hopes to receive the credit

/IRBIS, Oct.28, 99/ - REUTERS referring to "sources closed to the
negotiations held in Astana" informs that Kazakhstan is pleased with
negotiations with IMF mission and hopes for granting of the new IMF credit.
Most important, in source's opinion, that the political events such ambiguous
valuation of Parliament election and resignation of the Government of
October 1 - do not influence the IMF and on December 15 it is going to make
a final decision.
Other source in government has told to REUTERS, that the greatest
progress in the negotiations was achieved on budget policy and structural
reforms in Kazakhstan.
The Minister of the Public Revenues of Kazakhstan Zejnulla Kakimzhanov
has mentioned today this negotiations on the government meeting and
asked akims of oblasts (regions) to improve the taxes collection.
Reception of the IMF credit is quite urgent for Kazakhstan. The $200 million
Eurobonds issue in the autumn 1999 does not cover $600 million of the
budget deficiency.
Negotiations with IMF have been held without the special progress, since the
spring of 1999. An absence of success in these negotiations is named in
Astana as one of the main reasons of former Minister of Finance resignation.
