USD/KZT at the day closing - 140,54/64 (indicators)

/IRBIS, Oct.22, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at the moment of October 22
Kazakhstan's OTC-market closing tenge/dollar quotations has made
140.54/64 tenge per dollar at the average weighted exchange rate of 140.56
(+0.04) and session closing quotations of 140.57/58.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the previous day
closing decreased by 2 points on demand and increased by 3 points on
supply.
The interbank dollar quotations after ending of exchange trades somewhat
decreased at 4:00 p.m. than to some extent increased at the day closing.
The spreads after dinner varied from 6 to 20 points, at average 10. Their
values practically do not differ from yesterday's. At that, large part of a day
the spreads were at the 10 points level.
Quotations of the overnight annual interbank tenge deposits at the day
closing made 2/8. The really short money on KASE traded today at the level
of 6.0 and 13.5 APR for 4 and10 days accordingly.
More than 3.5 billion tenges State Securities redemption has supported
today banks liquidity but did not cause the dollar rate growth. Three auctions
of the week have shown, that the investors are actively bought the National
Bank notes, which managed to attract about 2.4 billion tenges.
As a whole on the exchange market within this day there was unusual for the
last time dollar demand and supply balance. From this the IRBIS forecast
follows: during the first trades of the next week tenge has equal chances
both to become stronger, and to lose some points. There are no factors
today capable to change a conjuncture.
