/IRBIS, Oct.21, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at the moment of October 20
Kazakhstan's OTC-market closing tenge/dollar quotations has made
140.52/67 tenge per dollar at the average weighted exchange rate of 140.52
(+0.04) and session closing quotations of 140.53/59.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the previous day
closing decreased by 10 points on demand and by 5 points on supply.
The interbank dollar quotations after ending of exchange trades somewhat
decreased on demand, on supply they oscillated without any trend.
The spreads after dinner varied from 5 to 21 points, at average 12. The
minimum was observed one hour after exchange trades closing and at 4:00
p.m. Almaty time. Then spreads grew.
Quotations of the overnight annual interbank tenge deposits all day remained
without changes at the level of 5/13. Only one repo for 14 days under 13.0%
was open on KASE.
Today's redemption of two State Securities issues on the sum of 832 million
tenges did not influence the market, as the National Bank managed today to
attract through notes-28 placement 1,171.9 million. The banks preferred the
notes to dollar.
Main volume of State Securities redemption will take place on Friday. Really
this sum will be accessible after dinner. But tomorrow the National Bank will
offer one of the most popular tool: indexed notes-14. It is possible that the
banks will give back significant volume of the received means at these bonds
additional placement.
Thus, the IRBIS experts assume on Friday on KASE dollar rate growth within
a interval of first tens points. In their opinion, the indexed short notes can not
completely attract tenges received at the redemption. On the threshold of
three days off the banks do not want to "remain with tenge", and the dollar
demand on KASE can be high.
