MINISTER OF FINANCE OF KAZAKHSTAN AND SOME OTHER POSTS IN GOVERNMENT WERE APPOINTED TODAY

/IRBIS, Oct.12, 99/ - Today President of Kazakhstan has announced to Parliament about the first in the new government. Mazhit Esenbaev, akim of Karaganda oblast will be the head of the Ministry of Finance of republic. According to REUTERS, Mazhit Esenbaev in 1995-1996 was the first deputy minister, then he headed the tax committee of Kazakhstan. Since July, 1997 he managed regional administration of Karaganda oblast. Zejnulla Kakimzhanov remains the Minister of State Revenues. He headed this department at once after its formation in 1998. Aleksandr Pavlov is appointed as the first Vice-Premier. Nursultan Nasarbaev has told, that Pavlov "knows a history of the question", as he was vice-premier at A. Kazhegeldin and later worked in the Balgimbaev cabinet, and that Aleksandr Pavlov was kept for continuity. Danijal Ahmetov is appointed as Vice-Premier supervising industry, till now he was the head of executive body (akimat) of North-Kazakhstan oblast. As Vice-Premier on economy and finance is appointed Erzhan Utembaev heading Agency of strategic planning and reforms in Kazakhstan. Nursultan Nasarbaev has told, that the appointment decrees will be signed today. The next appointments in government of Kazakhstan are expected tomorrow. REUTERS informs about talks in the government's corridors, according to which the Ministry of power, industry and trade can be headed by Vladimir Shkolnik executing now the responsibilities of the minister of science and high education. The former Chairman of the National Bank Kadyrzhan Damitov was offered to continue a state service in one of the ministries. One of the members of current government also has told to the REUTERS journalists that former Vice-Premier and minister of finance Uraz Dzhandosov has some offers. Probably, it will be work in the Ministry of foreign businesses or in the Ministry of work and social protection. More authentic and concrete information is absent.
