/KASE, June 24, 13/ – JSC "Samruk-Energy" (Astana), whose bonds are officially listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), today provided KASE with the following press-release of June 21, 2013: quote In village Ulken, Zhambyl district of Almaty region on June 20, 2013 public hearings were held regarding the assessment of impact of project "Construction of Balkhash TES. 1 stage" on the environment. During the hearings public activists were briefed on the fact that the coal burning technologies and equipment, including the gas purifying units, conform to modern international technologies which will ensure compliance with Kazakhstan's environment protection laws, and on some indicators will meet European air pollution standards. Public activists also spoke up on this project which will be taken account of when taking decisions on issues capable of negatively affecting the environment. Project "Construction of Balkhash TES. 1 stage" on the environment is the largest across the industry. It is being implemented by JSC "Samruk-Energy" in association with Korean consortium Samsung C&T and KEPCO. This power station should solve energy shortage issues and liquidate energy dependence of Kazakhstan's south regions. Also, the project is of high social importance. Up to 5,500 work places will be created during the construction stage, and up to 970 work places will be set up for its operation; residents of Ulken village and neighboring areas will be involved in the first place. Currently, construction works are underway to complete preparation and most important facilities; as well as development of the project specifications for main facilities is about to be finished.
