08.10.99 00:00
/IRBIS, Oct.08, 99/ - The next trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and Euro
were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE). 25 banks participated in
the trades.
Today the trades were opened in the US dollar at 142.50 tenge per unit. In
less than a minute the dollar exchange rate plummeted to 141.95, and by the
10th minute of the session price of an American currency has reached its
minimal mark for the trades today - 141.90 tenge per unit. Decrease of the
dollar exchange rate went along with minimal volume of operations.
As yesterday, the dollar exchange rate began to soar from the minimal level
and has reached 142.15 tenge per unit by the mid of the session.
The second half of the trades went with prevailing supply, dealers active
work and gradual decrease of the cost of an American currency. Final price
compromise was found within 141.07-141.09 tenge per dollar interval, where
the last deals were made.
The trades were closed at - 142.06/11 tenge per dollar.
218 deals were made in US dollars. Weighted average dollar exchange rate
made 142.08 (+0.27). Volume of the session - $10.485 mln (-$1.150 mln).
Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade did not exceed 0.18%.
Exchange market conjuncture for the dollar did not change significantly
today. Resulting strengthening of an American currency was caused, on one
hand, by less supply than it was yesterday, and on the other hand, by
increased demand. On the threshold of receiving money on notes
redemption the dealers had a chance to stretch their positions.
Number of active operators decreased today. With that, almost all banks
were actively selling dollars, and five of them - were only selling. But
demand seemed to be greater.
One hour after closing of the trades on over-the-counter market of
Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 142.03/10 tenge per unit, two hours later -
142.04/19.

the mark - 77.95 (-0.01) tenge per unit. Trade volume - DEM20 (-10)
thousand. At closing of the session Deutsche mark was quoted at
77.91/78.02 tenge per unit of the currency.

absent for euro.
