/IRBIS, Oct.01, 99/ - According to REUTERS at the moment of October 01
OTC market of Kazakhstan closing tenge/dollar quotations has made
141.30/32 tenge per dollar at the average weighted exchange rate of 141.10
(+0.99) and session closing quotations of 141.30/32.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the previous day
closing has lost 115 points on demand and 97 points on supply.
Spreads of the interbank quotations varied from 25 to 40 points at average
28 - almost double increase of previous day's spreads.
Rates of the overnight interbank tenge deposits have made at day closing
7% p.a. (demand) and 20% p.a. (suppy) and have recorded essential
decrease of short money price in relation to the morning rates, as well as to
the middle of week peak.
After yesterday's and today's State Securities redemption banks have tenge,
which resulted in dollar buying by the banks of the second tier. The banks
hastened again to extend their net position, which was a little cutted at the
end of quarter by budget payments. News about Nurlan Balgimbaev's
Government resignation not influenced the market. According to dealers
opinion, today's growth of dollar was stipulated by tecnical reasons rather
than by political.
Touching next week trades, dollar in all appearances will continue to
strengthen. Traders can not make the unequivocal forecast, but all are sure -
there will be no dollar decrease below 140.00.
In opinion of the IRBIS analysts, the National Bank taktic is the only one
reason, that can force dollar to leave below than indicated level. Massive
currency interventions are hardly probable now. However increase of the
short-term notes yield and the firm control over current devaluation can help
to stabilize the exchange rate.
